Liberan bajo fianza al policía acusado de asesinar a George Floyd

Derek Chauvin, policía de Minneapolis, principal acusado por la muerte del afroestadunidense George Floyd, fue liberado el miércoles tras pagar una fianza de un millón de dólares, según documentos judiciales.

Chauvin enfrenta cargos de asesinato y homicidio involuntario, luego de que un video evidenciara como sometió con su rodilla el cuello de Floyd, durante nueve minutos, lo que ocasionaría su muerte.

Tras este acontecimiento del 25 de mayo, han surgido importantes movimientos sociales en Estados Unidos, generando una campaña contra el racismo y la brutalidad policial, ajo el lema “Black lives Matter”.

Aunque Derek tiene, por ahora, libertad condicional, en marzo de 2021, tendrá que comparecer en tribunales junto con tres excolegas acusados de complicidad en la muerte de Floyd.
